Forest types of Eastern North America were described by E. Lucy Braun in 1950 and continued further description by the US Forest Service, the Nature Conservancy and many independent academics. The practical implementation / representation of all forest types is daunting. Forests, like all ecosystems progress thru various species composition over time. Yesterday’s forest types are rapidly changing due to disease and insect infestation and other changes associated with climate change.
