Prairie restoration and wildflower / grassland development has exploded in the land stewardship arena since the mid 1980’s, Community composition is of course ruled by geologies, soils and hydrology everywhere.
Grassland ecosystems can equal or exceed the carbon sequestration of the other ecosystems. Most of our eastern meadows are indeed dominated by grasses.
